Why We Sing

Good people, cheer God! Right-living people sound best when praising. Use guitars to reinforce your Hallelujahs! Play his praise on a grand piano! Invent your own new song to him…

(Psalm 33:1,The Message)

We believe that music is one of God’s great gifts to the world, created to help humans express the deep passions of their hearts. Music allows us to connect to God (2 Kings 3:15) and to each other (Colossians 3:16). The Bible is full of the singing of God’s people & God (Zephaniah 3:17, Matthew 26:30). Ephesians 5:19-20 reads, “Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Join us in a worship service and listen to our songs; you’ll see that we have so much to sing about!

WHO WE ARE

I’ve thrown myself headlong into your arms— I’m celebrating your rescue. I’m singing at the top of my lungs, I’m so full of answered prayers.

(Psalm 13:5, The Message)

We are the grateful children of God, celebrating the salvation made available to us through Jesus’ life, death and resurrection. We are young and old, trained and novice, professional and hobbyist. We are singers, drummers, guitarists, pianists, rockers, folkies, jazz cats, traditionalists and experimentalists— all devoted to giving God our spiritual and musical best, united in our love for Jesus and His people.

If you’re interested in serving on one of our music ministry teams and can commit to weekly rehearsals and services then please contact Harmony LaBeff for more information.

MORE THAN WORDS (AND MUSIC)

I’ll be the poet who sings your glory— and live what I sing every day.

(Psalm 61:8, The Message)

Worship is more than words and melodies, chord progressions and emotions. Raising our voices is a start but that is not meant to be the end of our worship. The words of our songs are meant to reverberate in our hearts, to get stuck in our heads, to challenge our thinking and doing in our everyday existence so that we can be people like Jesus who love our neighbors and back it up with action.
