Talk With God

Have you ever needed a friend to talk to while on the road and wondering who you could call? Perhaps you knew who you could talk to, but he or she was a thousand miles away and you needed the advice or comfort to see your way through a problem. Maybe it was job related, or family problems, or money, etc. I've been there. My friends were too far away and the time it would have taken and the cost on the phone prevented me from making the all important stop, meaning I was left to my own thoughts or confront a stranger asking for advice. When I had made a decision to follow Jesus, I never realized it would open a door to have a friend ready to listen anytime I wanted to discuss things. I found it difficult to talk with God in the beginning. I mean really talk. Open my mouth and talk to Him like He's right there in the cab with me. Sounds silly, right? Wrong! He wants to be that personal with us. That's right, Personal! Him and You! Alone, talking about the problems, the joys, the stress, the pain, the blessings and the games in life that satan puts us through to keep us away from God. Listen Friend to what I just said. Satan puts us through those trials in life to keep us from God. He'll give us just a little slack to let us think that things are going pretty well in our life, then wham, pushes the button that torques us the wrong way. We fall into his snare each time and the deeper we fall, the harder it is to escape. That's where Jesus comes in. You have to know Him and He'll do battle for you in keeping satan away. He wants to be your Friend! Listen to what He says in John's Gospel, Chapter 15, verses 13 to 15. "Greater Love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if you do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you." Is that personal? You can take that one to the bank! I've revealed things to my friends I would never tell my wife. At least before I knew Christ as Savior. Jesus wants to be that Friend! The following Prayer Guide is a way of opening that door to God through Jesus. You can unburden yourself and get that advice you need. That's right. He'll talk with you. He's been waiting all these years to tell you of His great Love for you and how to work out those things in your life that drag you down. Trust Him to do it! Chaplain Rich

The following is a guide to talk with Him.
