On Thanksgiving Day most people pull their chairs up to the table of family or friends to dig into overflowing plates of turkey and the trimmings.  It’s a time to share updates of life’s activities and to reminisce mutual memories.  But there is a group of folks, that for whatever reason, miss out on that.  Some truckers find themselves in this group and spend Turkey Day in a truck stop eating whatever is on the menu.

Knowing Who Jesus was and Is

KNOWING WHO JESUS WAS, AND IS  - 4 Palm Sunday Lessons (Matthew 21:1-11)

Lesson 1 - Palm Sunday celebrated throughout Christendom takes place the week before Easter Sunday. It is about the triumphant entrance into Jerusalem by Jesus, and how He entered. The how was a fulfillment of prophecy, riding on a donkey’s colt. Why did the Son of God ride on such a lowly animal when making such a celebrated entrance into Jerusalem? The lesson here is, Jesus entering Jerusalem on a donkey is a fulfillment of prophetic Scripture found at Zechariah 9:9. The Jews always applied this prophecy of Zechariah to the Messiah, and is just one of many throughout the O.T. Therefore the people and the Jewish leaders should have known who Jesus was.

Lesson 2 - Why did Jesus, The Son of God, The Messiah ride a donkey when making such a triumphant entrance into Jerusalem? In Scripture kings and great leaders rode horses especially when in parades or when making grand entrances. Horses being majestic powerful creatures displayed the rider’s prominence, royalty, power, pride, and wealth. In Scripture donkeys were the opposite, portraying humility, not arrogance of self-importance and power, and in Jesus’ case remindful of His character, poverty of pride. Jesus, the King of Kings, came first in humility personifying the Gospel of the Kingdom, healing the sick, helping the poor and the outcasts, making the blind to see, and raising the dead,  and to complete His Father’s will at all times, and was rejected. His second coming will be with great power, royal majesty, and unmatchable glory with His armies behind Him, and on His thigh written King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (Rev 19:11-16).

Lesson 3 The entire city of Jerusalem was in a grand celebratory uproar as he entered. After spreading palms and flowers and pieces of clothing before Him and covering the back of the colt with bits of their clothing, some in the crowd shouted, "Who is this?" The crowds replied, "It's Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee." All the fulfillment of prophetic Scripture fully met and satisfied through Jesus, and  Him riding into Jerusalem on a donkey’s colt, along with all the miracles performed, Jesus was not recognized as The Christ, The Messiah, The Redeemer, whose coming was first promised by God Himself at Gen 3:15 and that Genesis deliverer, Jesus, came to the Jew first and later to the Gentiles. “He came unto His own and they received Him not.” (Jn 1:11). As  pressure mounted against Jesus and His followers, only a few days later many from that same crowd shouted, “Crucify Him, away with Him” (Mk 15:13-14) “His blood be on us and our children” and so it is to this day. (Mt 27:25)

Lesson 4 – If Jesus were to come back today as He did some 2000 yrs. ago, He would again face rejection, and death. We witness daily the increasing rejection of Jesus OUR Christ in America. Reader, His second coming will be with great power, royal majesty, and unmatchable glory with His armies behind Him, and on His thigh written King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (Rev 19:11-16). And He will judge all those who neglected “so great a salvation,” the only way of salvation provided by Jesus, by the shedding of His precious blood at Calvary. (Hebrews 2:3)

The latest outrage

The latest outrage by the "intolerant" preachers of "tolerance" against Duck Dynasty's patriarch Robertson concerning remarks he made during a "gotcha" GQ magazine interview when asked to define sin, which resulted in the patriarch's suspension from the very popular hit show that closes each episode in prayer of thanksgiving, in Jesus' name, while at the family dinner table. That was, and still is, a sore spot with the shows producers who told Robertson to stop praying in Jesus' name because we don't want to offend anyone. Robertson said. "no prayer in Jesus' name, no show!" The show's producers and the TV channel airing the show have failed recognized the growing popularity of the series due to increase of fans each week because of the Christian wholesomeness of the show. Nor will they concede that the Robertson family, stars in a clean family oriented, show being the reason for its overwhelming popularity. My son Shane supports the show because it is the only TV series you can sit down and watch with your children and not have to cringe at what may be said, or shown.

Mr. Robertson's latest issue with the producers occurred when he gave a Scriptural response when answering GQ's question what is sin? His answer included his beliefs about what he considers to be particularly condemning sin in God's eyes when he quoted a passage of Scripture stating  the list of sin types at 1st Corinthians 6:9-11. Part of his comments included, along with those about homosexual behavior, what we refer to today as "sleeping around", as in a man having sex with many women, and women having sex with many men outside, and inside, marriage.

The tolerant preaching (intolerable's) outcry from supporters of the so-called gay-life style and from the business side of commercial TV have failed to be complete and fair to the other types sin listed within that passage while tripping over one another to not bash homosexuals and/or lesbianism to prove their support, while manifesting their complete disdain for Robertson and his beliefs. To be fair to the Lord God of the Heavenly Hosts and His Son the Lord Jesus Christ, I mention that by publicly supporting the opposite of that which God says is sin shows a complete disdain and unbelief of the truth of God's Word, the Bible, and a rejection of God's Sovereignty concerning what He knows to be best for us by making known to us those things we should not practice. God does this because of His great grace and love for us.

If we claim to be Christian we take on the name Christian and all that implies meaning we are a follower of Christ and therefore because we believe in Jesus and the record God gave us about Him for our salvation, we must surely believe in His Word, every jot and tittle. That is what being a Christian is, a complete follower of Christ and believing all that He says in His Word. We cannot call ourselves Christians and then select only those passages that WE choose to believe thus accepting them as God's teachings while rejecting the rest.

That full acceptance of the Bible and belief in all that it contains as being God's truth is what causes unbelievers problems with Duck Dynasty's patriarch, Robertson. Robertson has never hidden the fact he is a Christian who believes in Christ and His Gospel for his eternal salvation first, and who then follows the Bible to live the Gospel by faith for his earthly life.

We either believe or we don't believe that the Bible that teaches Jesus is the Word at John 1:1-4 "In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone." Holy Bible, New Living Translation (NLT) The unbelievers of world believe in Jesus Christ, but they don't believe what He says. Most of the world believes in God, as do the demons who tremble because of that belief. They know Who God is. (James 2:19) But, aside from the true believers, the world believes God also, but does not believe God, and what God says to us is found in His Word, The Bible.

The verses at 1st Corinthians 6:9-11 quoted by Robertson to support his belief and to define sin lists types that  can eternally damage the individuals eternal standing before God, degrade society and the world includes: "those who indulge in sexual sin, idolatry, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexual behavior, thieves, greedy people, drunkards, cheaters," none of whom that will enter eternity unrepentant and  not cleansed by the "blood of Christ" and not made holy and righteous in God's sight by calling on the name of Lord Jesus Christ and the power of the Spirit of God for salvation and rescue from sin and its penalty. The failure by the "outraged and liberal tolerant" (i.e., tolerant only when you agree with them) to defend and support those other types sin Robertson quoted from Scripture is hypocrisy at its greatest. And what is hypocrisy but "a behavior in which a person pretends to have higher standards than they really have." (Oxford American Dict)

Why haven't we heard from the cheaters, or the adulterers, or the drunkards, or prostitutes, thieves, the greedy people, or idolators? They're not getting proper recognition and support. Where is the outrage, the defending of, the encouragement through recognition and support for all the rest
who indulge and practice these sins? Ah, the hypocrisy. The truth is, even without acceptance of, or indulging in, the homosexual/lesbian life style, we do commit (and in truth secretly admit) we are sinners who indulge in some, or all, of those sins listed at 1st Corinthians 6:9-11.Read the verse completely through that Robertson quoted during the interview.

"Don't you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don't fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, 10 or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God. Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." Holy Bible, New Living Translation (NLT)

We are all guilty, ouch! God in His Word states plainly all who are guilty, all who have not repented, that being changed their minds about Jesus and that they are indeed sinners needing salvation, without believing in the Lord Jesus Christ for cleansing, forgiveness, and being made righteous, will not, cannot, inherit the Kingdom of God. God's way for salvation is simple and free. We're told by God through Jesus unless we believe that He has made a way for us to be rescued from the eternal ramifications of sin while in this present life and for the eternal life to come by the complete atoning work by His Son Jesus, The Christ, on the cross, we will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Read it yourself, see how clearly God tells us His way - John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." KJV

John 5:24 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life" KJV

John 11:25-26 "Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die."KJV Pretty clear that we are only to believe, rely on, trust in, God's Son Jesus that He has instituted a plan for our rescue that plan being, BELIEVE!

Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace (God's unmerited favor) ye are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ's salvation) through [your] faith. And that [salvation] not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], it is the gift of God." KJV

Easy-Christianity - Within a previous "Been Thinking" I mentioned the time for "Easy Believe-ism" or "Easy-Christianity" within the United States especially, and throughout the rest of the world also, that to visibly live your Christian faith as a faith-courageous outspoken follower of the Lord Jesus Christ without consequence is past. We true believers in Christ, we true Christians, can expect, more and more, that attacks against the Bible and all that it teaches, and attacks against its Author, and attacks against our religious freedom guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States of America will disappear, and the Constitution of the the US will be replaced by a far more freedom-restrictive-all encompassing will be replace liberties once enjoyed because our country, the rest of the Americas, and the countries of  Europe and all her offspring will institute a World-Constitution that is in development now. It will happen. One world constitution under a one-world government, a one-world religion under a one-world religious leader who is a false prophet, and a one-world political and military leader, who controls a one world monetary system, with complete control of all citizens. The Bible that I believe says it will happen.

Silencing, degrading  name calling of Mr Robertson the patriarch of Duck Dynasty because of his belief in Jesus, and trust in God and His Word, is just one of many such instances of a growing world-wide trend to completely outlaw belief in the Lord God, Creator of all things, Sovereign over all. The world and all who are in it, though failing top recognize, are very fortunate, blessed beyond measure, because God is patient giving time for all to come to accept His plan for our redemption by believing In His Son. This is God's unmerited favor to us, that is by His grace He offers us free of charge saving faith. 2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." KJV

A truly great time of year for salvation, to believe in the One Whose birth we celebrate, that would make joy in Heaven. Luke 15:10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

Running the Race

Ecclesiastes 3:1-12

3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
9 What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?
10 I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.
11 He hath made everything beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

On every gravestone there is a dash between the date you were born and the date you die. Someone once said, “Neither of those dates are important, it’s the dash (the life you live in between those dates) that is important.”
We’re often way too busy with the stuff of life, especially in these times, to stop and think about that truth.  What will people say about your dash? Will they talk about how you went the extra mile to help them?(no pun intended).  How you made their life richer, fuller, or happier?  Which is more important: Making sure your kid goes to karate class or spending the afternoon playing and laughing with them?  Buying your spouses’ affections or giving your wife the remote and cleaning the kitchen for her?
Let me give you a few suggestions that you can do this week. I know you’re busy and trucking isn’t promoting good home time, but listen up, this is important:
1.  Before you leave for work every morning, give your spouse one, (two would be better) sincere complements,    and don’t forget to do it when you kiss her goodbye. Men that is especially important to your wives.
Suggestion Men: I like the color of that blouse you’re wearing, or maybe say, I like the way you do your hair, it looks good on you, or your perfume will stay with me and I’ll think about it as I travel. Don’t forget to say, I love you.
Suggestion Ladies: Thanks for fixing the lock on the front door you make me feel safe, or fixing the car or taking me to dinner, some positive point. Do not neglect to say, I love you and will be back as soon as I can.
2.  Parents, catch your kids doing something right and praise them for it!  Way to clean up after yourself! Good grades!  You didn’t give up even when it was hard, way to go! I’m proud of you. I know I can count on you.
3.  Do one small act of kindness every day. This is especially potent even if nobody else ever knows, it builds nobility, and it also passes on values! Do you value the lessons learned by a small act of kindness?
4. Pray, lift your eyes off this earth.  Prayer helps you see life as God sees it. God gave you the gifts of life, family, friends, jobs, and caring for them as well. Protect them, bathe them in prayer. Pray as you leave, pray before entering your truck, pray for your provisions, testimony, safety, family, it works!! I know. I’ve been in your shoes!
5. Laugh. Don’t take life or yourself too seriously.  Make others laugh with you, not at you. Hold yourself up to morals standards and laugh wholeheartedly! Godly laughter is wholesome.

The time we are given on this earth is a gift. Life is short, just a mad dash to the finish. Don’t live with regrets and should have done this or that. Commit to run to the finish! Keep Christ in your heart/mind/body and He will keep you!
Have a blessed week! Please know that we at TCCM pray for you! James 5:16 b,…the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
